Greetings from Cubby’s Music!
2015 has already provided great opportunities for Jim to compose, arrange, play, produce, and conduct and we’re excited to share these projects with you!
We were very sad to lose one of Jim’s mentors and dearest friends, the incomparable Lari Goss, this January. Jim was given the honor of conducting an orchestra of Nashville’s top studio musicians for Mr. Goss’s memorial service. Our hearts and prayers are with Lari’s family and we cherish the memories, stories, and legacy that this wonderful man has left on Earth with us. If you’d like to read about Lari Goss, please click here.
In January, Jim worked with Nashville producer Bernie Herms on orchestrations for 4 songs for Josh Groban’s upcoming album Stages. This album features songs from broadway musicals and features legendary artists such as Kelly Clarkson and Audra McDonald. Check out a music video from Stages, to be released on April 28, 2015, below!
In February, Jim teamed up again with Bernie Herms, where they co-orchestrated 3 arrangements for renowned Canadian vocal group The Tenors, which was recorded with the Toronto Symphony. These arrangements will be featured on the group’s upcoming album, One Sky, to be released in the United States on June 2, 2015.
Jim wrote 12 original solo cello compositions for the 3 Ingredients or Less library at The License Lab in February. The full package will be released on The License Lab’s website this Spring, but check out the sample tracks below for a small taste of what’s to come!

Also in February, Jim performed with the Chattanooga Symphony during their Big Band Fever and Broadway Review programs.
In March, Cubby’s Music worked with Global Genius Productions and The License Lab to record 14 original big band compositions for the Organic Spark Library with the Nashville Session Players Big Band. Three of the cues from the big band session are featured on the Cubby’s Music Homepage!
Also in March, Jim played a concert with American Idol Star Melinda Doolittle and the Panama City POPS Orchestra to a packed house. Several of Jim’s arrangements were featured in this concert.
Jim has begun working with new Puffin Records artist Nathaniel Street-West on a series of demo recordings for a new album of songs Nathaniel’s written. We hope to begin recording the full album in the months to come.
Jake Shimabukuro, the young ukulele virtuoso, has asked Jim to create several symphonic arrangements of his songs for an upcoming performance with the legendary Chicago Symphony Orchestra on June 24th!
We’ve also begun production meetings for Music With a Mission 2015, the annual benefit concert for the Nashville Rescue Mission featuring the Nashville Symphony and many guest artists. We’re excited to announce that The Gatlin Brothers will be our featured host band again this year! Also confirmed are the Beegie Adair Trio, Jimmy Fortune, Mo Pitney, Gary Mule Deer, and The Isaacs! In the weeks to come, we’ll post the full roster for this year’s concert. Please check out the Music With a Mission Homepage for more info!
