2020 Recap

2020 was a hard year for the music industry, and all facets of live music – from artists to performance venues and everyone in between – were negatively impacted because of COVID-19. Even though many scheduled work engagements on Jim’s calendar had to be postponed until 2021 or cancelled outright, He was still blessed to work on the following projects:

All projects listed according to type

ALBUMS

Jim orchestrated and conducted 2 songs for legendary country band, The Mavericks, on their album of Spanish folks songs, en Español.

Fun fact: The Mavericks recording, in February 2020, was Jim’s last last session until December 2020, due to the pandemic.

Jim also orchestrated and conducted a song for Hector Tellez, Jr. and orchestrated and conducted 4 songs for Patrice Shure.

SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA PROJECTS

NASHVILLE SYMPHONY

Jim arranged and orchestrated the Boudleaux & Felice Bryant Gala Concert, a tribute show to the legendary songwriters of such hits as Rocky Top, Bye Bye Love, and Wake Up, Little Susie.

THE PHILADELPHIA ORCHESTRA

Jim arranged and orchestrated many small works for various virtual and on-line performances by the orchestra, including a sing-a-long of classic Christmas carols for their annual Christmas show.

Additional Symphonic Appearances

Melinda Doolittle with INDIANAPOLIS SYMPHONY

Jim was the orchestrator for their July 4th show, which was held online.

Melinda Doolittle with LAKESIDE CHAUTAUQUA SYMPHONY

Jim was both arranger and orchestrator for this show, which was postponed due to COVID.

Accent Vocal with SASKATOON SYMPHONY

Accent Vocal, a group of 6 vocalists from 5 different countries who sing Hi-Low style a cappella arrangements, had Jim orchestrate all the arrangements for their first symphony show. Sadly, it was postponed due to COVID.

FILM & TELEVISION

The Bachelor

This ABC show tapped Jim to provide the orchestration and orchestra for the recording of Listen to Your Heart season finale, recorded live at the Country Music Hall of Fame.
